Why Do Cats Pee on The Beds?
When you are happy to go home and want to lie down on your bed, you find that your kitten used your bed as a toilet and the bed is dirty. You think the kitten hurts your feelings, so you want to know why it does this. Believe me, not only do you have this kind of doubt, many families with cats have experienced this kind of collapse. We have sorted out why the cat is peeing in bed, and it may be helpful to you. We hope that after reading this article, you can find out why your kitten is acting strangely.
Cat peeing in bed is mainly caused by both physical and psychological reasons.
First consider the physiological reasons:
the various problems of the urinary system will make the cat not to use the
litter box. If it is an older cat, perhaps the joint pain makes it feel pain
when entering and leaving the litter box, they are no longer willing to use the
litter box. In addition, obese cats are often exposed to joint pain and urinary
system problems. It is worth noting that male cats that are not sterilized are
usually more prone to peeing everywhere.
If the cat is psychologically dissatisfied
with the litter box, the cat will pee on the owner's bed. Generally speaking,
the following are the cases of dissatisfaction.
1. The position of the litter box is unreasonable.
Cats need a quiet and private environment to go to pee. If the
litter box is placed in a place with a large flow of people at home or a
relatively noisy electric appliance such as a washing machine, the cat will
refuse to go to the toilet in the litter box. In addition, the litter box
placed too close to the cat's tableware and bed is not a good choice.
2. Cats don't like the current cat litter or the new cat litter.
The ideal cat litter texture is soft, clean and
breathable. The litter box is not clean enough. Cats pay attention to hygiene, they
dislike the unclean cat litter. For kittens and short-legged cats, the height of
the litter is also important, the unsuitable height of cat litter will stain
them, and cat owners and cats don't like it. When the litter box is rejected,
the owner's bed becomes the cat's toilet.
3. Unreasonable configuration of the litter box.
Insufficient number of litter bowls can lead to some conflicts in the
Multi-cat family, and the cat will not accept the arrangement of multiple
companions sharing the litter box. The cat owner can't ignore whether the size
of the litter box is suitable for your cat, and even some individual cats have
their own ideas about the style of the litter box.
4. Cat anxiety and insecurity.
Changing a
new home or having a new family member can make the cat feel anxious.
Especially when there are new pet cats in the house, the owner’s energy will be
given to the new cat. When the owner goes out, the cats are anxious to miss the
owner and will pee in the bed. The combination of these two odors makes them
feel intimate and comforting.
5. If the cat is scolded by the owner
during the use of the litter box, they will refuse to use the litter box.
Many times, cats are not malicious. But the way cats deal with emotions and illnesses is different from humans. If your bed is soiled by cats for the first time, try not to punish them. Help them find the cause and try to solve it.
