I am "torn" regarding this leash. Almost every reviewer has expressed a high opinion of it. A few people were disappointed with the quality of the leash, as I was. I received mine in December, and 3 months later the leather at the end near our dog split. See photo. After posting a critical review, the maker emailed an apology and full refund--and a replacement leash. I am left to conclude that I unfortunately received a subpar leash of theirs. Given the numbers of positive reviews, their leashes are likely normally of high quality. Customer service from Lavien was outstanding. A lesson to me that I should contact a seller prior to posting a purely negative review on Mavricflex .I am raising my original review from 1 to 4 stars. I still think that a harder, tougher leather, though not as comfortable on the hands, is a better type of leather for a dog leash. The last ones I had each lasted over 5 years with a large German Shepherd that was walked in the rain and snow of NH. The leather softened over the first few months of use. This leash arrives soft and pliable. No break-in period required. But my guess is that it is not quite as durable in the long run. Its probably like buying pre-washed jeans. Remember those denims that were stiff as a board when you bought them? As a kid I outgrew them faster than they broke in. Now my kids get pants that look like hand-me-downs, occasionally with holes already in them!But I digress.In sum, this is a leash that almost everyone is very satisfied with. And if you happen to be disappointed, the seller will go out of their way to make it up to you.Our prior dog was a 100 lbs german shepherd. He lived almost 12 years, and in that time we had two leather leashes. When we first got them, they were hard and stiff, and it took several months for them to soften and break-in. I would prefer starting with leather like that and having the leash last many years compared to this.
I have just had this leash a few days but I really like it. It is sturdy and functions well. I love the 3 in 1 features because I carry all 3 on my walks. I only wish the flash light was brighter. It is a good flashlight but the one I use is just brighter and lights a greater area.
Good heavy duty retractable leash. leash is a bit thin but sturdy, about what you would expect from this type of leash. Will hold a strong dog no problem. Locking mechanism works well, just required a little getting used to.
This is a great double leash. Allows for greater control of my schnauzers while allowing them more freedom to roam. My pups are very strong for their size and this is the first mechanical lead I've used that I didn't feel I had to worry about the lead breaking when the pups take off after a squirrel. Also easy to use with one hand, which is necessary as I use a cane to help me walk. The spinner portion helps prevent tangled leashes, although for those already unsteady on their feet you should be aware that dogs with wanderlust (i.e. Heel is not part of their vocabulary) don't get the idea that they shouldn't walk around you multiple times or that they should only stay on one side. When they do this, the leads can trip you up. You need to be proactive to prevent this before it causes a problem.
The retractable leash takes a little getting used to but overall works well. My 68 lb idiot dog tries her best to break the leash but so far it is stronger than she is. It does have a lot of give- if your dog is an idiot like mine, you might want on that you can reel the pup back in a little better.
Love this leash and the flexibility it gives if we want our pup close by or give more room to wander. It is incredibly easy for our young children to use when walking our dog.
I really like the excellent way this retractable dog leash works. The reflection part of the end of the leash is nice for easier visibility during evening walks. The attached baggie carrier container is nice for pickup dog poo when on the walk. My dog really likes how much farther she can run ahead of me without pulling on the leash so we can both go at our own pace comfortably. It is nice that it has buttons to make the leash shorter or longer which is great when managing my dog. I am very pleased with this leash and will buy it again if needed and will recommend it to anyone.
Love it! I have a black labrador aNd this dog leash has the perfect length ad strenght to take him for a walk :)It has the bag dispenser and a atrong light ;)

Lightweight, works great. We have 3 dogs so I have multiple leashes in the house and in each car. Good value.
