The leash is comfortable to hold and built of quality materials but the switch does not allow for temporary stopping the length by simply holding it down and then releasing it. If you hold it down it is permanent and you have to make another move to release it. With my last retractable leash, I could press down and it would hold as long as I pressed or I could put the button forward and it would lock. This leash automatically locks.
My son works at a vet and came home with 2 tiny two day old poodle puppies who's mother had just died that day. He said that he was just fostering them that weekend. My wife took to them immediately and started bottle feeding them every 3 to 4 hours. That was supposed to be just for that weekend. Well, I guess you know how this story goes. They are now 10 old months and quite small so this leash should work out well. I was a bit worried about them with our Australian Sheppard and Doberman but they both curl up in a ball and sleep not beside but on top of my female Doberman like she is their mom. By the way, I like the small collapsible bowl that came with the leash too. Its a nice touch!
Love the way this leash lets you hold the "lock" w/o actually locking, but still gives the option to lock if needed. The no tangle feature is very helpful! I highly recommend this leash! Only downfall may be the weight limit, not sure what it is. Our puppy is less than 10 lbs, but he sure can run & pull on it & it hasn't given.
I have been using this leash daily for 2 months now. It seems to be holding up very well. It has not gotten stuck or tangled in the mechanism and has been strong enough for my almost-50 pound basset hound (who can be a real force when he's on a scent trail)! The handle is very lightweight and the button is easy to use.
This worked perfectly for my application. We installed it in a thin metal garage door. The big door that you drive under.....not the door to the house. Standard cat doors would require a wood frame around it but this was designed for glass so it fit perfectly with no gap. I got lucky finding this and it's been functioning perfectly for a few months now. The cats love it and it keeps them from getting locked in the garage.
